The origin of the style is associated with the Vienna Congress of 1815: the war is over, and people want to return to a calm, homely, measured life. Men returned home from the front, and Europe was swept by a wave of marriages and the birth of children. This was the period of the revival of the middle class and the heyday of the bourgeoisie.
