Recipe Orange buns with poppy seeds

Ingredients:
  • Flour - 2 1/2 cups
  • Sugar - 1/4 Glass
  • Baking powder - 1 st. a spoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoonfuls
  • Of chilled butter - 1/2 cup
  • Buttermilk - 1/2 cups (plus 2 tablespoons)
  • Orange peel - 1 st. a spoon
  • Orange juice - 1/4 cup
  • Yolk - 1 piece
  • Seeds of poppy seeds - 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • Confectionary sugar for sprinkling - To taste
  • Apricot jam and butter for serving - To taste
Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the chilled butter to the chopped pieces and mix until the dough looks like large crumbs. You can do this with your hands or with a dough cutter. 2. Add 1/2 cup buttermilk, finely grated orange peel, orange juice, egg yolk and poppy. Mix all ingredients with a fork. 3. Put the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead several times. 5. Lay the triangles of the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lubricate the top with 2 tablespoons buttermilk and sprinkle with confectionery sugar. 6. Bake buns to pale golden color, about 15 to 17 minutes. 7. Allow buns to cool with apricot jam and butter.
