Now these salads are so ordinary that you want something new. And what if the family has fans of these dishes? Apparently, it's worth trying a new form of presentation, so that a familiar dish comes to the table with a familiar stranger. One of these experiments: a salad cake "Herring under a fur coat in jelly". To impress, we will need a beautiful shape, in which the salad will be prepared. Figured silicone molds for pies and jellies are best suited. To taste this salad cake is little different from its classic predecessor, except that the layers are glued together and cut like a pie.

Ingredients:
  • Beets 2 pcs.
  • Carrot 3 pcs.
  • Potatoes 3 pcs.
  • Eggs chicken 3 pcs.
  • Salted herring 1 pc.
  • Onion 0.5 pcs.
  • Gelatine 8 g
  • Water 100 ml
  • Jelly 30 g
  • Mayonnaise 350 g
Instructions
  • Step 1 Ingredients for salad: Beets, potatoes, carrots, eggs are cooked beforehand and cool. I also need onions, and for jelly, except mayonnaise, I add when dissolving leaf gelatin (4 pieces), jelly from red currant (my personal find since the time of cooking a common herring under a fur coat).
  • Step 2 We clean the herring, remove the insides, head, tail. We divide the herring on 2 fillets, carefully select small bones and cut into small cubes.
  • Step 3 Cooked potatoes are peeled from the skin and also cut into small cubes of 5-7 mm.
  • Step 4 Peel the cooked beetroot on a large grater. The taste of the whole dish depends on the quality and sweetness of the beet.
  • Step 5 Peeled cooked carrots rubbed on a large grater or cut into small cubes.
  • Step 6 Boiled eggs three on a large grater.
  • Step 7 Finely chop the onion and scald it with boiling water. This method removes the extra bitterness from the onion and, most importantly, prevents the salad from the smell of onion, which usually appears if the salad is standing. Crunchy properties of onions are preserved.
  • Step 8 Gelatin sheets should be soaked in coldWater for 10 minutes. Boil the water with 2 tsp. Jelly from red currant. Gelatin squeezed and put in water with jelly, stir until completely dissolved, let it cool to the state of fresh milk and mix with mayonnaise until smooth.
  • Step 9 Take the silicone shape, put it on the plate. All the ingredients are mixed in separate plates with jelly mayonnaise. The first layer is beet, so that after turning the shape it was on top.
  • Step 10 The second layer is the eggs.
  • Step 11 The third layer is the carrot.
  • Step 12 The fourth layer is potatoes with onions.
  • Step 13 And finally, herring. We cover the form with food film and put it in the refrigerator for about 6 hours.
  • Step 14 When the jelly is cold, cover the shape with a flat dish and turn it over. Gently turning out the edges, remove the shape. I got this kind of dahlia.
